Richard Stockton struck early, scoring four unanswered goals until sophomore attack Donald Toby (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside) got the Privateers on the board with a shot to the top right corner. The Ospreys would answer back with two more goals giving them a 6-1 lead heading into the half. The Privateers began show signs of life in the third period, breaking out for four goals, but Stockton would score four more to still cling onto the five goal lead. In the final stanza, each team would score a pair of goals, keeping Stockton on top with a five goal lead and eventual win.
The Ospreys were led today by senior midfielder Jeff Martin (Lincoln Park, NJ/Boonton) who scored four goals and one assist. Senior attack Kevin Zulauf (Lincoln Park, NJ/Boonton) added three goals and freshman midfielder Keith Bologno (Glen Gardner, NJ/Voorhees) contributed two goals and an assist.
Freshman Joseph Fasano (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage) got the start in net for the Privateers, allowing eight goals and picking up two saves. Junior goal keeper Tim O’Hara (Syracuse, NY/Bishop Ludden) came in relief of Fasano during the third period. In just a little over 27 minutes of play, O’Hara allowed four goals and made six saves. Junior goal keeper Ryota Ishikawa (Princeton, NJ/S. Brunswick) got the win in net for the Ospreys finishing with 14 saves and allowing seven goals.
Today’s win improves Richard Stockton to 6-5 on the year and they are now 3-2 in the Knickerbocker. Maritime falls to 2-7 overall and 1-4 in the conference. Maritime returns to action a week from today, April 15th when they will travel to Union, NJ to face the Cougars of Kean University in another Knickerbocker Lacrosse Conference match up.
