THROGGS NECK, NY - The SUNY Maritime men's lacrosse team won their final regular season game 18-8 over Farmingdale. The win brings Maritime to 11-3 (4-1) on the season, setting them up for a home match in the Skyline Conference semi-finals to beheld next Wednesday.

The Privateers jumped out to an early lead, and never looked back. They scored the first 10 goals on the game, spanning the entire first quarter and 14 plus minutes of the second. Eight different Privateers scored those 10 goals, with Lawrence Montreuil (New Hyde Park, NY/New Hyde Park) scoring three times. Farmingdale scored their first goal with 44 seconds remaining, and then Maritime came right back to score 12 seconds later, to bring an 11-1 lead into the locker room at the half.

The second half was much slower for the Privateers, as the Rams' defense stepped it up and allowed only 7 goals the rest of the way. However, the pressure of the Maritime defense kept the Rams from mounting a comeback, and the Privateers didn't give a single goal back from their 10 goal lead at the half. Montreuil finished with 4 goals, as well as one assist. Chris Toby (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside) followed with three goals and two assists, while Max Ferguson (Rockville Centre, NY/Chaminade) and Dan Roach (Edgewood, MD/Edgewood) each scored twice.

Colin Gallagher was in goal for the Privateers, making 10 saves in his 10th win of the season.

The Privateers will host Kean University in the Skyline Conference semi-final on Wednesday. The game is tentatively scheduled for 7:00PM.
