Nichols vs. Roger Williams

The Game Story:
DUDLEY, Mass.- Despite scoring a season-high 11 goals, including six in the fourth quarter, the Nichols men’s lacrosse fell to Roger Williams 15-11 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference action on Wednesday at Vendetti Field. Junior Dave Hurley (Hanover, Mass.) led the Hawks with four goals and two assists. Roger Williams improves to 8-6 overall and 6-2 in the conference while the Bison are now 0-14 overall and 0-8 in TCCC play.

Roger Williams scored six first quarter goals to take a 6-1 lead after 15 minutes of play. Nichols gained some momentum in the second quarter, scoring three goals to the Hawks four for a 10-4 halftime score.

Following a quiet third which saw a goal from each team, the Bison went on the attack in fourth, out-scoring the Hawks 6-4. Roger Williams had taken a 15-6 lead with 11:11 left to play before Nichols struck for five unanswered goals in its final 6:07 of action at home this year.

Junior Beaver Barone (Weymouth, Mass.) recorded two goals to go along with a game-high three assists for Roger Williams. Freshman Drew Smith (Blue Point, N.Y.) netted two goals and had one assist. Junior Joe Healy (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) also chipped in with a pair of goals. Junior Mike Fox (New Canaan, Conn.) finished with one goal and one assist.

Nine different players recorded at least a point for the Bison. Seniors Lucas Wilson (Falmouth, Mass.) and Peter Smyth (Bradford, Mass.) along with freshmen Brian Gattie (Plainfield, Mass.) and Gerard Jacobs (Billerica, Mass.) all scored two goals each. Freshman Ryan Pacific (Danbury, Conn.) had a goal and two assists while fellow freshman Tim Ahern (Boca Raton, Fl.) chipped in with one goal and one assist. Senior Jonathan Pruell (Jamestown, R.I.) scored his first career goal and freshmen Joe Golden (New Milford, Conn.) and Bradley O’Brien (Danbury, Conn.) notched their first career assists.

Nichols will look to close out a tough season with a win this Saturday at the University of New England. Roger Williams will play at Gordon that same day.
