The Game Story:
BABSON PARK, Mass. - Five different players scored multiple goals as the host Babson College Beavers used a balanced attack to defeat visiting the Norwich University Cadets, 13-4, in a Pilgrim League men's lacrosse contest at MacDowell Field on Saturday afternoon. With their third straight victory, the Beavers improved to 3-7 overall and 2-0 in conference play, while Norwich fell to 0-5 overall and 0-2 in the Pilgrim League.

Babson scored four of the game's first five goals, including a pair by first-year Andrew Packer (Hudson, Ohio), to take an early 4-1 lead, but Norwich answered with back-to-back man-up goals by first-year Tyler Woods (Essex Junction, Vt.) in the final three minutes to cut its deficit to 4-3 after one quarter of play.

The Beavers put the game out of reach with a dominating second quarter, scoring eight unanswered goals to take a commanding 12-3 lead into the half. Junior Matt Enright (Bristol, R.I.) scored all three of his goals in the period, while senior co-captain Jason Wellemeyer (Pembroke, Mass.) added two more. Norwich would get one back on a goal by senior Scott Pearce (Cheshire, Conn.) with 12:17 left in the fourth, but Packer netted his third with a second left in the game to finish off the 13-4 victory.

Packer and Enright each led Babson with three goals apiece, while Packer also dished out an assist. Wellemeyer tacked on two goals, two helpers, and six groundballs, while first-year Mike Lydon (Norfolk, Mass.) and junior E.J. Peterson (Framingham, Mass.) each chipped in with two goals and one assist. Junior Matt Harrington (Hanover, Mass.) capped off the Beavers' scoring with one goal and two assists, while first-year goalie Mike Saucier (Nashua, N.H.) finished with 10 saves in just one half of play in net. Senior Ed Baran (Danbury, Conn.) and sophomore Shane Farrell (West Warwick, R.I.) each picked up a team-high seven groundballs, with Baran also winning 11 of 18 faceoffs.

Norwich received two goals apiece from Woods and Pearce and two assists from senior Drew Caplin (Framingham, Mass.). First-year Nick Bakos (Hamden, Conn.) went the distance in net for the Cadets, stopping eight shots.
