The Game Story:
WORCESTER, MASS. 3/28/08 - The Clark University men's lacrosse team posted a 15-4 victory over Norwich University in its Pilgrim League season opener on Friday night at Granger Field. The game was moved to Clark due to unplayable field conditions at Norwich.

The Cougars snapped a five-game losing streak to improve to 2-5 overall and 1-0 in league play. Norwich (0-3, 0-1 Pilgrim) drops its third straight contest.

Senior Andrew Webber (Allendale, N.J.) scored five goals to lead Clark. Junior Shawn Roche (Centerport, N.Y.) chipped in with three goals, while rookie Eugene Arsenault (South Portland, Me.) added two goals in the victory. Webber and Arsenault also tallied three assists apiece.

Norwich got single goals from seniors Scott Pearce (Cheshire, Conn.) and Drew Caplin (Framingham, Mass.), sophomore Kyle Marzeoti (Billerica, Mass.), and freshman Tyler Woods (Essex Junction, Vt.).

The Cougars broke a 1-1 tie after the first quarter by scoring eight unanswered goals over the next two periods. Webber and Arsenault scored the first two goals of the second period within a 1:01 span, and Garrett McAdam (Portland, Me.), Dan Stern (Westport, Conn.) and Webber closed out the half with consecutive tallies over a 2:52 stretch.

Clark scored the next three goals in the third period for a 9-1 advantage.

After trading goals in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter, the Cadets scored their final two goals of the game off of an unassisted marker from Marzeoti at 8:22 and a goal by Woods just one minute later.

Junior Tyler Campbell (Portland, Ore.) made three saves in the game before giving way to freshman Jon Gendron (South Portland, Me.) (five saves.). Freshman Nick Bakos (Hamden, Conn.) had a solid day in goal with 11 saves.

Clark held a 43-15 shot advantage in the game.

Clark will host Nichols College on Thursday (7 p.m.), while Norwich will travel to Castleton State College that same day at 4 p.m.
