April 5, 2003
The Game Story:
Senior midfielder Andy Rowe (Alpharetta, Ga./Penfield (N.Y.)) and senior midfielder Michael Long (New Market, Md./Linganore) scored goals early in the fourth quarter to give Ohio Wesleyan a 15-8 lead and the Bishops withstood a fierce Kenyon comeback to defeat the Lords in North Coast Athletic Conference action on Saturday at Selby Field.

Ohio Wesleyan jumped to a 4-0 lead and led, 8-2, in the second quarter before Kenyon closed to within 8-4 at halftime. Ohio Wesleyan took a 13-6 lead on Long's goal in the opening seconds of the fourth quarter, and after Kenyon closed to within 13-8 on goals by junior midfielder Jason McCaw (Cincinnati/Indian Hill) and senior midfielder Julian Quasha (Mill Valley, Calif./Thatcher), the goals by Rowe and Long hiked the Bishop lead back to 15-8 with 8:27 remaining.

Kenyon came back with a man-up goal by freshman attacker Brad Harvey (Winchester, Mass.), and a penalty on the play gave the Lords another man-up chance, on which junior midfielder Ross Zachary (Scarsdale, N.Y.) scored. Another man-up goal, this one by Quasha, cut the deficit to 15-11, and senior midfielder Ben Gildin (Carlisle, Pa.) scored right off the ensuing face-off to bring Kenyon within 15-12 with 3:44 remaining.

After a Bishop turnover, the Lords closed to within 15-13 on Harvey's goal with 1:58 to play, but Ohio Wesleyan won the ensuing face-off and was able to run out the remainder of the clock.

Rowe led the Bishops with 6 goals, whiel Long contributed 4 goals and 3 assists. Gildin scored 3 goals for Kenyon.

Freshman Matt Adolfi (Cazenovia, N.Y.), went the distance in the Bishop goal, making 2 saves. Ohio Wesleyan's starting keeper, junior Paul McCommons, injured in practice this week, was held out of the game as a precaution. Sophomore Dave Neiman (Glencoe, Ill./New Trier) had 14 saves for Kenyon.
