| ONEONTA, N.Y. - Senior Neal Campbell scored Wednesday's game-winning goal with no time left on the game clock to lift Oneonta to a 12-11 win against Plattsburgh State in a critical State University of New York Athletic Conference game. The Red Dragons (11-4) and Cardinals (9-5) own identical 2-3 SUNYAC records heading into their final conference games on Saturday; Oneonta travels to Brockport and Plattsburgh entertains Geneseo. The top four teams qualify for the SUNYAC Tournament on May 2 and 5. Campbell picked up a loose ball on the side of the goal and rifled a shot into the back of the net before the final horn sounded. The officials held a meeting to determine if the ball had left his crosse in time and ruled that the goal was good. Kyle Norchi, Luke Weidlein and Frank Sangiovanni led the Cardinals with two goals apiece. Norchi added two assists for a four-point afternoon. Tom Spencer chipped in a goal and an assist. Backup goalie Michael Dell'Aera made a game-high 10 saves, but was charged with the loss. After trailing 3-1 after the first quarter, Plattsburgh scored six times to forge a 7-7 tie at halftime. Oneonta also led in shots (46-30) and ground balls (43-33). |
