Oneonta State vs. Union

The Game Story:
ONEONTA, N.Y. - Brendan Kinnane scored three goals and two assists to help lift the Union College menís lacrosse team to a 8-4 win over Oneonta State on Saturday. The win moves Union to 3-1 overall while Oneonta suffers itís first loss of the season after playing three contests.

Union scored a pair of unassisted goals to take a 2-0 lead at the end of the first period. Sophomore Ethan Meyer finally broke the scoreless tie at the 8:26 mark while junior Kinnane added the second goal of the period with 26 seconds left.

Oneonta took control at the start of the second period with three unanswered goals to take a 3-2 lead.

Oneonta freshman Jimmy van de Veerdonk got things going in the first minute with an unassisted man-down goal. Midway through the period, Hanson scored back-to-back goals including one with a man-up.

Two goals by the Dutchmen within 47 seconds of each other gave them the lead back at 4-3. Senior Charles Hovsepian scored an unassisted goal at the 2:56 mark and was followed at 2:09 with a goal by junior Derek Mayer. Union took its one goal lead into the intermission.

Union's defense was extremely tough in the second half as the Red Dragons managed only one goal early in the third period while the Dutchmen added four more for the final margin of victory. Kinnane, who finished the game with five points, scored a pair of fourth period goals while assisting on another to lead the attack.

Union goalie, Sean Aaron, recorded 23 saves for the Dutchmen in raising his record to 3-1 on the season. Oneonta goalie, Sean Reynolds, made 15 saves in his first loss of the season.
