Oneonta State vs. Suny Brockport
March 26, 2003
The Game Story:
Oneonta State used five first quarter goals to jump on visiting Brockport early en route to a 13-7 victory this afternoon on a wet All College Field. The Red Dragons snap a mini-skid of two games in registering their initial SUNYAC win of the 2003 season and improve their overall record to 3-5 while the Golden Eagles drop their conference opener and fall to 2-2 overall.

Oneonta State dominated the first three and a half minutes of the game, taking the face off and controlling the ball that culminated with junior Arie Claflin (Syracuse, NY/Corcoran) finding classmate Pete Monzet (Mahopac, NY/Lakeland-Panas) for the games first score at the 11:31 mark of the first quarter. Monzet would assist on three of the next four Red Dragon goals, a stretch that also saw his classmate Dave Coughlin (Latham, NY/Shaker) net his first two of five goals on the afternoon.

Brockport broke its scoreless drought at the 12:50 mark of the second quarter as sophomore Rob Siddell (Fayetteville, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius) registered his first of a team-high three goals. Oneonta stretched its lead to 8-2 at the intermission when senior Mark Weber (Islip, NY/Islip) zinged a ball across the field to a wide-open Ryan Henry (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon) who stuck the ball over the Eagle keeper's head.

Oneonta wasted no time stretching that lead to 10-2 as Coughlin netted his third goal of the afternoon with a shot that dribbled into the cage just 31 seconds into the third quarter. The Red Dragons stetched the lead to 13-4 with 7:46 remaining in the contest before the Golden Eagles netted the game's final three goals, including junior Frank LaSala (Potsdam, NY/Potsdam) taking the face off the distance for the game's final goal with 51 ticks left on the clock.

The Red Dragons are scheduled to play at Plattsburgh on Saturday for a SUNYAC contest that begins at 1:00 p.m.
