|The Geneseo Knights scored nine unanswered goals in the second half and defeated Oswego State 12-2 in a SUNYAC men's lacrosse game at Laker Field in Oswego on Sunday afternoon.|
Oswego State opened the scoring just 1:53 into the contest when Rob Tramontozzi scored on an assist from Mike Brewster. Geneseo went ahead 2-1 when Colin Ireland and Dan Balestra scored later in the first quarter.
An extra-man goal from Oswego State's Mike Strohm, assisted by Steve Tronovitch, tied the score early in the second quarter but it was all Geneseo from there. Andrew Hanover scored in the second quarter and the Knights scored nine times in the second half.
Nine different players scored in the game for Geneseo, led by Ireland's three goals and two assists. Joe Malach had two goals and Justin Rand had a goal and an assist.
Geneseo wrapped up SUNYAC play with a 5-1 conference record and is 7-4 overall. The Lakers are 3-11 overall and went 0-6 in SUNYAC games.
