The Lakers and Cardinals were tied again at two and then three before
the Lakers netted three straight goals for a 6-3 advantage. After
Plattsburgh got one of the goals back, Mike Malecki
(Baldwinsville/Baker) made it 7-4 scoring with 15 seconds left in the
opening period.
Oswego State padded its lead in the second quarter scoring four times as
four different players got on the board for the Lakers.
The Cards countered with one goal as Jason Lappies tallied, but Oswego
State still led 11-5 at the break.
Plattsburgh closed to within 11-8 with the first three goals of the
third quarter, but Brian Dautrich (Auburn/Auburn) and Isgro both netted
late goals to help Oswego carry a 14-10 lead into the final quarter.
Laker goalie Darin Ledwith (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) held his
ground in the final frame making several of his 15 saves as Plattsburgh
tried to mount a comeback.
Dautrich paced the Lakers with four goals and one assist, while
Hawthorne had a pair of goals and two assists.
Vottis had three goals for the Cardinals and Lappies and Pat Shea
(Shelbourne, VT/Champlain Valley) each scored twice.
Ryan Parks (Waverly/Waverly) made 10 saves in goal for Plattsburgh,
while Jake Barney (Watertown/Jefferson CC) had three.
The Lakers be back in action on Monday, April 8th hosting Utica/Rome at
4 p.m. at the PathFinder Bank Community Sports Complex.
