Potsdam State vs. Cortland State
April 23, 2003
The Game Story:
POTSDAM - The Bears closed out their SUNYAC schedule with a loss to Cortland by a final of 13-6. With the loss the Bears drop to 6-5 overall and 3-4 in SUNYAC. Cortland continued its dominance over SUNYAC, moving to 6-0 in league play and 12-2 overall. The Bears will play their season finale on Saturday, April 26th at SLU.

Cortland kept the freight train moving as they came into Potsdam, with tight defense and solid offense they grabbed the lead and never let the Bears get within striking range. Leading the attack for Cortland were Adam Hughes (North Syracuse. NY/Cicero-North Syracuse), Andrew Roth (Ridgewood, NJ/Don Dosco Prep) and Kyle Lambert; each with four points. Drew Hyatt (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-DeWitt) who had a goal and an assist also turned in a strong game. Goalie Steve Feltmann (Long Valley, NJ/West Morris Central) made 8 saves to get the victory.

Senior Appreciation Day was welcomed with a late April snow. The Bears grabbed the early lead in the game, but would lose it midway through the first quarter to a Cortland team that has been on fire all season long. Senior Josh Hickey (Carthage/ Carthage) led the team with a goal and two assists. Other contributors for the team were Jed Hammill (Brasher Falls, NY/St. Lawrence Central) who had a goal and an assist, Kevin Keegan (Cortland, NY/Cortland) with a goal, Eric Lehman (Lowville/Lowville) with a goal and Erik Lemelbaum (Syracuse, NY/Nottingham) also with a goal. Goalie Ryan Hanretty (Williamsville/ Williamsville South) made 15 saves in the loss.

The Potsdam Bears would like to thank this year's senior for their hard work and dedication to the team throughout their careers. Thanks to Jed Hammill, Dan Klapprodt, Andrew Rizzi, Josh Hickey, Kevin Keegan, Erik Lemelbaum, Eric Lehman and Brandon Webster.
