| POTSDAM - The Potsdam Bears (3-1, 1-1) suffered the season's first loss at
home Saturday as the Geneseo Knights (3-2, 1-1) prevailed by a score of 12-6
in a men's SUNYAC lacrosse contest.
After jumping to a quick 2-0 lead, the Knights never trailed. The Bears rallied to tie the game 4-4 at halftime before Geneseo outscored them 8-2 in the second half. Nine Geneseo players scored in today's victory. Dave Spenacchino (Fairport/ Fairport) scored 2 goals and 2 assists to lead the Knights followed by Pat Rielman (Skaneateles/ Skaneateles) and Chris Stock (Rochester/ Penfield) with dueces each. Goalkeeper Andy Howl (Pittsford/ Pittsford Sutherford) picked up the win for the Knights with 12 saves. Reliever David Knapp (Canandaigua/ Canandaigua Academy) pulled down 2 saves in late game action. Eric Lehman (Lowville/Lowville) scored 4 goals as he led the Potsdam effort followed by Jed Hammill (Brasher Falls/ St. Lawrence Central) with 1 goal and 1 assist. Josh Hickey (Carthage/ Carthage) scored the Bears only other goal. Goalkeeper Ryan Hanretty (Wiliamsville/ Williamsville South) had 18 saves for the loss. |
