| (POTSDAM, NY)- Six Bears scored two goals each as the men’s lacrosse team defeated visiting Keuka 14-5 on Saturday afternoon. The win improves the Bears record to 3-2 as Keuka falls to 1-4. Kevin Green (Faiport, NY/Penfield), Andy Sauer (Syracuse/Cicero-North Syracuse), Kyle Phelix (North Lawrence/St. Lawrence Central), Garret Sharp (Canton/Canton Central), Sean Sawyer (Irondequoit/East Irondequoit), and Jordan Joncas (Kanata, ONT/Holy Trinity Catholic) all had two goals each for the Bears. Ben McCullough (Brampton, ONT/Turner-Fenton) and Andy Deer (Vestal, NY/Vestal) both had one goal. Keuka tied the game 2-2 early in the first period but that was as close as they could come as the Bears scored five straight goals to go up 7-2 in the second period. Potsdam would stretch the lead to 14-4 before Keuka scored the final goal of the game with 5:02 left in the fourth period. The Bears outshot Keuka 48-17 and collected 40 groundballs compared to Keuka’s 17. Billy Richards (Niskayuna/Niskayuna) started in goal for Potsdam and had three saves. Geoff Mayor (Fairport, NY/Fairport) came in the third period and had six saves. Pat Corbine (Canton/Canton) relieved him in the fourth period and did not record a save. Brett Leonard made 16 saves for Keuka. Jon Curry relieved him in the fourth period and had four saves. |
