Potsdam State vs. Oneonta State
April 12, 2006
The Game Story:
Despite a valiant 4th quarter comeback, the SUNY Potsdam menís lacrosse team fell to Oneonta at home by a final of 8-9. The Bears record falls to 4-6 (1-2) while Oneonta improves to 8-3 (2-0).

Down by one with 1:30 remaining, the Bears had the ball and could not get past the stifling Red Dragon defense. Potsdamís only shot in the final 1:30 was taken with only 5 seconds showing, and hit the post. Backspin brought the ball close to crossing the line for a tie, but was scooped up by the goalie in time. The Bears outscored Oneonta 3-0 in the final quarter of play.

Leading the Bears was Travis Holmes (Jamesville-Dewitt/Herkimer CC) with 3 goals and 1 assist. Matt Blaich (West Genesee/OCC) followed with a goal and 4 assists. Goalkeeper Tim Neer (Baldwinsville/Baldwinsville) recorded 10 saves in the game.

Oneonta scoring was well rounded, with Matt Harvey (Bayshore/Islip), Troy Lepore (Cortland/Hendrick Hudson), and Mike Evans (Holtsville/Sachem East) each scoring 2 goals. Brian Ticoles (East Meadow/East Meadow) made 11 saves in the game.

The Bears will return to action on April 15th at SUNY Brockport. The game is scheduled to begin at 1pm.
