The Game Story:
Lakers come-from-behind with 11-10 win at Potsdam, share lead in SUNYAC standings

The combination of senior midfielders Mike Brewster (East Syracuse/East Syracuse Minoa) and Dan Rogers (Boston, NY/Frontier) and sophomore attack Cam Davoy (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) scored the game’s final three goals, respectively, as visiting Oswego State overcame a two-goal deficit late in the third quarter en route to its third straight victory, and second in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play with a 11-10 victory over SUNY Potsdam on Wednesday, April 8.

The Lakers (5-6, 2-0 SUNYAC), currently in a three-way tie for first place in the conference standings with SUNY Geneseo (2-0) and The College at Brockport (1-0), are on their longest winning streak since the 2002 season, when they won four in a row en route to an 8-8 overall record.

Oswego trailed 10-8 at the 5:56 mark of the third quarter before Brewster scored the final goal of the quarter on a man-up opportunity at 6:50 off of a pass from Davoy to cut Potsdam’s lead to a goal. Rogers scored an unassisted goal at 6:53 of the fourth quarter to even the score at 10-10, before Davoy scored the game winner 1:44 later, assisted by Brewster.

Senior Mike Recor (Syracuse/East Syracuse-Minoa) led all scorers with three goals, while Brewster, who extended his consecutive game streak with at least a point to 24 games, Rogers, and junior Ryan White (Rockville Center/South Side) finished with two goals each. Davoy and junior Dan Scarazzo (Fairport) each tallied a goal and an assist.

Ben McCullough, Todd Hosmer, and Corey Reinhart led Potsdam (3-5, 0-2 SUNYAC) with two goals each.

Junior Judd Robinson (Guilderland) stopped eight shots in registering his third straight victory in goal for the Lakers, who will travel to Brockport on Saturday, April 11 for a key 1 p.m. showdown with the Golden Eagles.
