| POTSDAM – Justin Wilson-Kirby scored 4 goals to lead the SUNY Potsdam Bears to a 16-1 home victory over the Cazenovia Wildcats as they opened their 2008 men’s lacrosse season on Tuesday. The Bears move to 1-0 while Cazenovia drops to 1-2. Wilson-Kirby (Burlington, ONT/T.A. Blakelock) tallied a hat trick in the first period as he followed George Nolan’s (Marcellus/Marcellus) 13:59 game opener with three consecutive goals. Kyle Phelix (North Lawrence/St. Lawrence Central) connected at 00:27 to close that period’s scoring. Cody Schroeder (Fayetteville/East Syracuse Minoa) opened the second period scoring at 12:34 followed by a Corey Reinhart (Albany/Colonie) tally at 10:58 before Garrett Sharp (Canton/Canton) ended the half with a pair of Potsdam goals. Nolan picked up his second goal as he began third period scoring at 13:42. Wilson-Kirby added his fourth goal at 12:59 followed 9 seconds later as the Wildcat’s Kyle Boland (Clifton Park/ Christian Brothers) connected on Cazenovia’s only score of the afternoon. Potsdam’s Sam Dutkowsky (Vestal/Vestal) and Dustin Dunn (Peterborough, ONT/ St. Peter’s Secondary) also tallied third period singles along with repeats from Reinhardt and Schroeder. The Bears Kevin Green (Fairport/Penfield) made the final period’s only tally at 2:45. Wildcat goalkeeper Chris Harrington (Cortland/Cortland) went the distance for Caz to finish with 15 saves in the loss. Potsdam’s Billy Richards (Niskayuna/Niskayuna) collected 2 saves as he anchored the Bears during first-half action. Relievers Pat Corbine (Canton/Canton) and Kalvin Thomas Peterborough, ONT/ St. Peter’s Secondary) split second half duty as Corbine collected 1 save.
