Cranston Paces No. 8 Lynchburg past Randolph-Macon Menís Lax 11-3

ASHLAND, VA Ė Ryan Cranston scored three goals and added three assists as the eighth ranked Hornets of Lynchburg College topped home standing Randolph-Macon College 11-3 in menís lacrosse action Saturday afternoon.

LC (8-2 / 3-1 ODAC) jumped out early and took a 5-0 lead after one quarter and then Austin Jeter and Cranston notched second quarter goals to stake the Hornets to a 7-0 advantage at the intermission. The Hornets pushed their lead to 9-0 on third quarter strikes from Cranston and Johnny Black.

The Yellow Jackets scored three fourth quarter goals to account for the final score. Rich Wilkens scored a pair while Billy Rowe tallied one goal and an assist in the loss.

R-MC keeper Brian Vierheller turned away 21 Hornet shots while his counterpart Garrett Curran made 12 saves in the cage for the Hornets.

LC out shot R-MC 47-31 and held a 36-22 advantage in ground balls while the Jackets won 11-of-18 face offs on the afternoon.

The Yellow Jackets will return to action on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. when it welcomes ODAC rival 15th ranked Roanoke College to Ashland. The Hornets will take on Greensboro College at home on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
