R-MC has now won five of its last six games to improve to 6-2 on the year and 1-0 in the ODAC, while VWC drops to 4-3 and 0-1 in league play. Randolph-Macon got off to a quick start scoring just 10 seconds into game when Josh Merwin took the face-off, raced down field and dished off to Kyle Snodderly scored to make it 1-0. The Yellow Jackets defense kept the Marlins scoreless in the first quarter, including a span of two minutes that saw R-MC playing three men down due to penalties. Tim Rowe would tally a strike with 10 seconds left to go in the first period, to make it 2-0 Jackets after the first 15 minutes. Neither team scored in the second quarter as the Yellow Jacket defense again killed a major penalty when R-MC was called for a three-minute non- releaseable infraction. Patrick Egan pushed the Jackets lead to 3-0 when he scored a man-up goal just 29 seconds into the second-half, before Jake Leddy struck just 14 seconds later to make it 4-0 Randolph-Macon. The game would stay that way until just one second left on the clock in the third quarter. After Rowe forced a turnover on the VWC offensive end, R-MC advanced the ball up field where Tyler Midwinter took a feed from Brett Austin and was able to score just before time ran out. Egan started the fourth quarter scoring with a goal 57 seconds into the final stanza to make it 7-0, while Rowe would add a tally with 11:34 left in the game to make it 8-0. Adam Nycz scored with 9:02 remaining in the contest to spark what proved to be a four goal run for the Marlins to close out the game. Nycz finished with a goal and an assist, while Cory Bauer made 14 stops in net for VWC. Randolph-Macon will be back in action Wednesday when it travels to Ferrum for a 4:00 p.m. game. -Yellow Jackets- |
