R-MC Knocks off Southwestern 18-1 in Men's Lax

ASHLAND, VA – Randolph-Macon scored 11 unanswered first half goal en-route to an 18-1 men's lacrosse victory over Southwestern University from Texas on Sunday afternoon.

R-MC (2-0) was led by Tyler Midwinter (4g, 2a) and Jake Leddy (3g, 3a) who both had six points in the win. Brett Austin had three goals, while Taylor Wicke, Patrick Egan and Brian Rowe all had a pair of goals in the victory.

Three goals by Leddy highlighted a seven goal first quarter for the Yellow Jackets. Midwinter then had two strikes in the second quarter to help send R-MC to the intermission up 11-0.

R-MC would score four goals to push its lead to 15-0 with four, third quarter goals on its way to its second victory of the season.

The Jackets held a 46-9 edge in shots, a 35-10 advantage in the groundball battle, while Jason Crawford and Ryan Reechia combined for a pair of saves in the cage.

Randolph-Macon will be back in action on Tuesday when it takes on St. John Fisher at 3:00 p.m.
