Balanced Attack Helps Cardinals Double Up on Richard Stockton

POMONA, N.J. - The Plattsburgh State lacrosse team saw 12 players register at least one point as the Cardinals crushed host Richard Stockton, 22-11, on Thursday evening. Plattsburgh improves to 5-1 on the season while the Ospreys dropped their first game in two outings.

Kyle Norchi and Pete Morgan paced the Cardinals with five goals each. Norchi also had two assists while Luke Weidlein notched seven points (3g-4a).

Brendan McCarthy and Brent Effenberger each scored a hat trick for Stockton. Mike Velez added two goals and three assists.

The Cardinals scored three goals in the first period within 31 seconds and then tallied four quick scores in a 2:06 span of the second quarter en route to an 11-2 halftime lead. Stockton closed to within six at 13-6 after three but the Cardinals outscored the Ospreys 8-5 in the final stanza.

"The offense was spread around which is a testament to the guys playing into our system. Our attack had big numbers," Plattsburgh coach P.J. Kavanagh said. "We played good team lacrosse and it's nice to get out of here with a good win."

Logan Carpenter made five saves--all in the first half--in picking up the victory.
