Rit vs. Alfred

The Game Story:
ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (8-1, 2-0 E8) men's lacrosse left no doubt they are one of the teams to beat in the Empire 8 after an 18-1 drubbing of Alfred University (1-5, 0-3 E8). The eighth ranked Tigers led 10-0 after the first quarter and never looked back en route to their eighth win of the season.

Seven different players scored goals for RIT in the opening quarter. Eric Pritchard (Webster, NY/Webster) got RIT on the board at the 13:17 mark. Stephen Papa (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna), David Thering (Fairport, NY/Fairport), David Demuth (Jordan, NY/Jordan-Elbridge), Colin Jesien (Cambridge, MD/Cambridge-S. Dorchester), Andrew Rocco (Corning, NY/Corning East) and Wes Adam (Lafayette, NY/Lafayette) also talied goals for the Tigers in the first. RIT's defense was stellar holding the Saxons to two shots on goal in the first.

Ruocco's goal in the first quarter gave 37 points on the season and 100 career point.

Scott Farress (Webster, NY/Webster), Thering, Pritchard and Adam each scored in a five-goal second quarter for RIT. The Tigers defense allowed just two shots in the second quarter as RIT led 15-0 heading into halftime.

RIT called off the dogs in the second half. Joe Argese (Jordan, NY/Jordan-Elbridge) and Tim Liwosz (Pennington, NJ/Pennington) each scored for RIT in the third quarter. Tim Griffin (Camillus, NY/West Genesee) picked up his for collegiate goal in the fourth quarter.

Alfred got on the board with 10:36 to play in the contest on a man-up opportunity. Adam Griffin scored on an assist from Sergio Ibarra with 10:36 remaining in the fourth.

RIT out shot Alfred 62-18 and went 3-for-4 with the man advantage. RIT had 62 ground ballsto Alfred's 44 and won 16-of-22 face-offs. Jacob Brunner was a perfect 10-for-10 on face-off 's and had six ground balls.

John Foley (Guelph, ON/Our Lady of Lourdes) played the first half, making four saves. Brad Conlon (Ottawa, ON/Bridgeton Academy) played most of the second half, allowing one goal and making four saves. Alex VanderEls (Fairfax, VA/W.T. Woodson) played the final 9:27 and made two saves.

RIT will host Clarkson University on Wednesday, April 5 at 4 p.m. on RIT Field.
