The Game Story:
ROCHESTER, NY -- The 20th ranked RIT (8-1, 2-0 E8) men's lacrosse team made a statement on Saturday with a 21-12 win over Empire 8 foe Alfred University (5-2, 2-1 E8). The Tigers dominated play through three quarters, outscoring the Saxons 21-4 in that stretch cruising home for the 22-12 win. RIT midfielder Chris Copeland (Webster, NY) led RIT with eight goals.

RIT came out and dominated play right from the opening face-off, tallying seven first quarter goals. The Tigers controlled play throughout, working the ball around patiently until they got a good shot. RIT's patience paid off when Chris Copeland took a pass from Colin Jesien (Cambridge, MD) and scored with 11:12 to play in the quarter, giving RIT a 1-0 lead. Copeland struck again with 9:07 to play on an assist from Ryan Neward (Williamsville, NY). That duo hooked up again on a man-up opportunty with 5:38 to play, making it 3-0 RIT. David Thering (Fairport, NY) made it 4-0 Tigers with his goal at 4:17. Josh Molinari (Oswego, NY),who scored five goals on the afternoon, Zach Bednarz (Webster, NY) and Ryan Neward rounded out the scoring for RIT in the first quarter. RIT held the Saxons scoreless as they could muster just two shots in the first quarter.

Alfred finally got on the board with 11:11 to play in the second when Dylan Macro score an unassisted goal. David Vail made it 7-2 RIT with his man up goal with 10:24 to play. RIT's offense got back on track scoring three straight goals. Copeland scored on an assist from Neward, followed by a goal by Jon Manley (Keuka Park, NY). Copeland struck for his fifth goal of the day with 7:56 to play in the quarter, extending RIT's lead to 10-2. After a goal by Dylan Macro, Josh Molinari struck twice at the end of the quarter, giving RIT a 12-3 lead at the half.

RIT kept the pressure on in the third quarter, scoring nine goals. Chris Copeland had three goals in the third, while David Thering and Josh Molinari each had a pair of goals. Zach Bednarz also had a goal, while Dylan Macro accounted for Alfred's lone goal in the third as RIT's defense continued to dominate, holding the Saxons to just two shots.

Once RIT took their starters out in the fourth quarter Alfred was able to get their offense on track. The Saxons scored eight times in the fourth quarter led by David Vail who had two goals and an assist. RIT's lone goal came with 2:25 to play in the game from Freshman Travis Yantomasi (Amherst, NY).

Chris Copeland led RIT with eight goals. He moves into second place all-time in career goals with 145. He needs nine goals to tie Bill Bjorness who holds the all-time record with 154. Josh Molinari had nine points on five goals and four assists. Ryan Neward had seven points on a goal and six assists, while David Thering added six points on four goals and two assists. Zach Bednarz had two goals and an assist.

Adam George (Lafayette, NY) led RIT with nine ground balls and won 22-of-34 face offs. Mike Abrams (Onondaga Nation) had eight ground balls, while Mike Lachut (Fulton, NY) picked up seven ground balls.

Jon Manley led the RIT's defense, causing five turnovers and picking up three ground balls. John Foley (Guelph, Ontario) picked up his 8th win of the season. He had to make just four saves, allowing three goals.

RIT will visit St. John Fisher College on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m.
