The Game Story:
ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT men's lacrosse team (4-4, 2-0 Empire 8) scored a season-high 19 goals en route to a 19-3 victory over Elmira College (1-7, 0-3 Empire 8) at the RIT Turf Field on Wednesday afternoon. RIT moves to 2-0 in conference play.

The Tigers dominated every facet of the game, out-shooting Elmira 67-23, winning the ground ball battle, 68-40 and collecting 17-of-25 face-offs. The 68 ground balls and 67 shots were also season highs.

RIT led 5-1 after one period, 11-1 at halftime and 16-2 after three quarters of play.

Sean Gillies (Oakville, Ontario/Albany Academy) led the way with a career-high seven goals. Senior Dan Rago (Geneva, NY/Geneva) recorded four first-half goals and an assist.

The freshman duo of Iric Bressler (Stafford, VA/North Stafford) and Adam Vlassis (Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse Minoa) recorded five points apiece. Bressler had two goals and three assists, while Vlassis tallied a goal and four helpers. Vlassis also had six ground balls.

Wes Adam (Lafayette, NY/Lafayette), Andrew Ruocco (Corning, NY/Corning East), Chris Cherami (Olwick, NJ/Seton Hall Prep), Billy Walton (Syracuse, NY/Nottingham) and Connor Burnes (Stratford, CT/St. Joseph) also scored. Burnes' goal was the first of his collegiate career.

Tanner King (Virginia Beach, VA/Corning East) picked up his first collegiate assist, while Nick Dalton (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) recorded his first helper of the season.

Senior Jacob Brunner (Lafayette, NY) won 11-of-15 face-offs and had nine ground balls.

A total of 41 different Tigers played in the contest. All four Tiger goalkeepers played at least 6:41. Brad Conlon (Ottawa, Ontario/Bridgton Academy) started and made six saves to pick up the win. Kevin Rattigan (Chicago, IL/Western Reserve Academy) stopped one shot and assisted on Gillies' sixth goal of the game with one second left in the third quarter. Rob Tonnessen (Ridgefield, CT/Ridgefield) made his first collegiate appearance, stopping two shots, while Tyler Bigham (Danbury, CT/Trinity-Pawling) also made his first appearance, making three saves.

RIT's defense, led by Chris Bulawa (Camillus, NY/West Genesee) and Rob Mizelle (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Sutherland), Phil Davenport (New Market, MD/Linganore) and M.J. Kiekebelt (Orangeville, Ontario/St. Andrews) forced 12 Elmira turnovers. Elmira turned the ball over 30 times on the day.

Mike Bialick, Martin O'Brien and J.P. Kennedy scored goals for Elmira. Dan Frost recorded a team-high seven ground balls and had an assist. Mike Szpiech also drew an assist for the Soaring Eagles.

In net, Geoffrey Lane made 22 saves in 53 minutes of work, while Matt Hale finished out the game and stopped four shots.

RIT is now 16-0 all-time against Elmira.

RIT, who starting with today's contest, plays five in a row against Empire 8 opponents will travel to play #3 Ithaca on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Bombers are undefeated on the year.
