The Game Story:
ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT men's lacrosse team improved to 3-0 with a 12-6 win over Rensselaer on Sunday afternoon in non-conference action. The Tigers used a strong second half, out scoring the Red Hawks 9-1, to erase a first half deficit.

RIT out shot Rensselaer 38-29 and won the ground ball battle 41-26. Face-offs were even at 11 apiece. Jerry Ragonese was RIT's top winner, taking 11.

Adam Lehmann (Rochester, NY/McQuaid) and Iric Bressler (Stafford, VA/North Stafford) paced the RIT offense with three points apiece. Lehmann scored three goals, all in the second half, while Bressler had a goal and two assists. David Burke (Fairport, NY), Chris Cherami (Olwick, NJ/Seton Hall Prep) and Billy Walton (Syracuse, NY/Nottingham) each had a pair of goals. Adam Vlassis (Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse-Minoa) had two assists.

Kevin Rattigan (Chicago, IL/Western Reserve Acadmey) picked up the win for RIT, allowing six goals and making seven saves. Dan McRae (Oakville, ON/Holy Trinity) and Alex Crepinsek (Mississuaga, Ontario / St. Thomas Aquinas) led RIT with six ground ball apiece.

Austin Ray led Rensselaer with four points on two goals and two assists. Ryan Bigham had two goals and an assist and Josh Secora added pair of goals. Ryan DeJordy took the loos allowing 12 goals and making 14 saves.

RIT fell behind 2-0 to the Red Hawks in the first quarter on goals from Austin Ray and Josh Secora.

The Tigers responded with a pair of goals in the final 1:14 of the opening quarter from David Burke and Iric Bressler.

Bressler's goal was a man-up goal with four seconds to play in the quarter on an assist from Sean Gillies (Oakville, ON/Albany Academy), tying the game at 2-2.

The second quarter belonged to Rensselaer. The Red Hawks out scored the Tigers 3-1 in the quarter, leading 5-3 at the half.

RIT's lone goal in the second quarter was a man-up goal by Billy Walton with 3:36 to play on an assist from Bressler.

The Tigers came out firing in the third quarter, out scoring the Red Hawks 5-0 in the third and 9-1 in the second half.

RIT's defense stiffened in the second half, allowing just one second-half goal and forcing the Red Hawks into 13 second-half turnovers.

Adam Lehmann scored all three of his goals in the third quarter, including the tying goal with 10:27 to play in the third.

Billy Walton opened the scoring in the third quarter with a nice behind-the-back goal on a feed from Bressler with RIT on man-up.

Chris Cherami tallied an unassisted goal with 8:49 to play in the quarter giving RIT their first lead of the game.

Burke, Cherami, Kelso Davis and Alex Crepinsek each scored in the fourth quarter to salt the game away for the Tigers. The goal by Crepinsek off the opening face-off of the quarter was his first collegiate goal.

The Tigers will look to make it four straight to open the season on Wednesday, March 11 when the Tigers host Scranton University at 4 pm on RIT's Turf Field.
