Rit vs. Skidmore

The Game Story:
ROCHESTER, NY -- On a cold and rainy Senior Day at RIT Field, the No. 8 RIT men's lacrosse team rolled past Skidmore College 19-10 in Liberty League action on Saturday. Senor Tyler Russell (Livonia, NY/Livonia) and freshman Brendan MacDonald (Georgetown, Ontario/Trinity-Pawling) led a balanced RIT attack each with five points on four goals and an assist.

Nine different Tigers scored goals on Saturday, led by Russell and MacDonald's four each. Senior A.J. Tingle (Cary, NC/Green Hope) had a pair of goals and an assist, while Kyle Aquin (Hamilton, Ontario/St. Jean De Brebeuf) had three goals. Jack Krzyston (Bedford, NH/Bishop Guertin) had two goals and two assists, while Taylor Wisman (Seattle, WA/Inglemoor) had a goal and two assists.

RIT held a 44-38 shot advantage and controlled the ground ball battle 53-36. The Tigers went 18-of-33 on face offs, as P.J. Hart (Camillus, NY/West Genesee) won 13-of-17.

The Tigers went 3-for-5 with the man advantage. Anthony DeLeo (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Academy) picked up his tenth win of the season makimg seven saves.

Mike Perlow led Skidmore with four goals and an assist. Richie Davis added a goal and dished out two assists. Matt Diaco took the loss allowing nine goals and making two saves. Drew Butterini played the final 44 minutes, allowing 10 goals and making eight saves.

After trailing 2-1 early in the first quarter, RIT ran off five straight goals, taking a 6-2 lead on Russell's second goal of the quarter. Russell closed out the quarter with his third giving the Tigers a 7-4 lead.

RIT opened the second quarter with three straight goals, taking a 10-5 lead on Russell's fourth goal of the half off an assist Krzyston.

Leading 12-6 at the half, RIT scored four goals in the third quarter, taking a 16-6 lead on Wisman's 13th goal of the season.

RIT cruised home in the fourth quarter, picking up their 11th win of the season.

The win clinches the Tigers a spot in the Liberty LEague tournament. RIT is off until Saturday, April 28 when the Tigers travel to Canton, New York to face St. Lawrence at 1 pm.
