The Game Story:
SALEM, VA--The Roanoke College men's lacrosse team rebounded from a loss at Salisbury on Sunday with a 17-10 win over FDU-Florham on a rainy Wednesday afternoon in Salem, VA. The Maroons, ranked 17th in the latest USILA Division III national poll, improve to 4-1 on the season, while the Devils fall to 2-4.

The difference in Wednesday's game came in each of the first two periods of each half. The Maroons opened the game outscoring FDU, 5-1, in the first 15 minutes of play. Garrett Yaralian (Fripp Island, SC/Mt. Lakes) and Andy Bonasera (Columbus, OH/Upper Arlington) staked the Maroons to a 2-0 lead. After the Devils cut the lead to one on a Derek Havran goal, the Maroons scored three straight over the final 2:59 of the quarter. The final goal came off of the stick of Mike Chase (Webster, NY/Webster), who took a full-field pass from goalie Tim Morse (Santa Fe, NM/Tabor) and score with just three second left. The assist was the second of Morse's career and the goal was the third straight for Chase.

The teams played to a 4-4 tie in the second quarter, and after two the Maroons led, 9-5. FDU's fifth goal came with just three seconds left as well, as John Damiani picked up a groundball near the midfield line and ran past the Maroon defense to stick a high shot in the goal.

The Maroons put the game out of reach in the third period, opening the frame on a 5-0 run. Chase had two more goals in that run as did Bonasera. The Devils scored two of their three fourth period goals man-up and finished the game with five extra-man goals.

Chase finished the game with six goals and an assist for the Maroons, easily a career-high seven points. Davis finished with three goals and five helpers, while Bonasera added four goals and two assists. Freshman Mike Miginsky (Waterford, VA/Loudoun Valley) scored his first career goal in the win. Havran scored a team-high four goals for the Devils, while Damiani and Brad Roberts each had two.

The Maroons host Washington & Lee on Saturday at 1:00pm. The game will be played at Roanoke's Elizabeth Campus Complex. The Generals enter the game as the nation's seventh ranked team.
