Maroons get first ODAC win over Randolph-Macon
Play Hood tomorrow at 2 p.m.

The menís lacrosse team defeated Randolph-Macon, 19-7 at Donald J. Kerr on Saturday afternoon. The Maroons improved to 6-4 overall and 1-2 in ODAC play. The Yellow Jackets dropped to 5-3, 1-1 in the ODAC. The Maroons are now 32-1 against R-MC, with their only loss coming in 1972.
Roanoke enjoyed its largest win margin ( 12) of the season, scoring its second-highest scoring output of the season (19). The Maroons outshot the Yellow Jackets, 59-27 and had a season-best 76 groundballs and enjoyed their highest margin in that category, 76-27.
The men won 22-of-30 face-offs and were successful in 35-of-38 clears on the afternoon. The Maroons were 3-of-8 on extra man opportunities, scoring back-to-back goals with a man up in the third period.
Roanoke scored the first six goals, each scored by a different Maroon before R-MC got on board. In the beginning of the second period, Matt Quinton scored to put them up, 9-1.
Randolph-Macon scored four of the next six goals to go into the half down 11-5. Peter LaPaglia scored the final two goals for the Yellow Jackets in the final two minutes of the half.
The Maroons dominated the third period, erasing any chance of a letdown, outscoring the Yellow Jackets, 6-0 to take a commanding 17-5 lead heading into the fourth period. Quinton and Pat March combined to score five of the seven goals during that stretch.
The Maroons were led by March with three goals and three assists. Ashton Hotchkiss finished with two goals and two assists to pace the Maroons. Quinton had a team-high five goals and one assists to help Roanoke to their first ODAC win.
Chas Carlson finished with one goal and four assists to put him at 18th on the all-time scoring list at Roanoke. He also moved into seventh all-time in career assists with 81.
Billy Cameron scored one goal, scooped up a team-high 10 groundballs and won 8-of-13 face-offs. His 383 career groundballs is third all-time, needing eight more to pass Aaron Sims í94 for second in that category.
Jake Dorsey finished with 11 saves. Adam Liberto had 19 for the Yellow Jackets.
The men will host Hood tomorrow afternoon with game time scheduled for a 2 p.m. start. It will be the first meeting against Hood.
