| Salisbury, Md - Salisbury's Cory O'Neil, Chris Phillips and Josh Bergey each
finished with four goals and one assist to lead the #2 ranked Sea Gulls to an
18-7 win over visiting #20 Roanoke.
O'Neil scored three of his four in the opening quarter and Phillips and Bergey each tallied once as Salisbury (5-0) stormed to a 7-2 lead. The Gulls scored on seven of their 13 shots in the opening period, including five of six at one point. Two goals by Phillips and two by Chris Lauer in the second quarter pushed SU's advantage to 11-3 at halftime. Salisbury outscored Roanoke 4-3 in the third quarter, with each team scoring two extra-man goals in the stanza. Bergey tallied twice for Salisbury and O'Neil added his fourth of the game, while Roanoke's Andy Bonasera had one goal and one assist in the quarter. The Gulls pushed the lead to17-6 when Bergey converted his fourth of the day with 6:24 remaining. Each team added a final marker in the last 1:41 of the game. Andy Arnold added one goal and two assists for Salisbury, while Joe Tamberrino and Ryan Rohde finished with two assists each. Bonasera led Roanoke (3-1) with two goals and two assists. Kris Davis had two goals, and Joe Weeren finished with one goal and one assist. Salisbury outshot the Maroons 41-37, and controlled 19 of 28 face offs. SU's Dan Korpon recorded 13 saves in 54 minutes, while RC's Tim Morse finished with all 13 saves for the Maroons. |
