The Game Story:
BRISTOL, R.I.- Posting their fifth win in seven games, the RWU Hawks Men’s Lacrosse team scored twelve straight goals Thursday leading to a 16-2 Commonwealth Coast Conference home victory over Nichols College.



Senior Dave Hurley (Hanover, Mass.) posted a game-high four goals along with one assists in the contest, while classmate Beaver Barone (Weymouth, Mass.) also posted five points on two goals and three assists. After Hurley started the game’s scoring with an unassisted goal at 11:13 of the first quarter, Barone contributed on each of the next four goals to put RWU ahead 5-0.



RWU tallied two more goals before the end of the quarter and maintained its pressure in the second frame, notching five goals within the first three minutes. Nichols sophomore Brian Donnelly (Weymouth, Mass.) ended the scoring streak, putting Nichols on the board 10:31 before the half.



RWU resumed its scoring with 1:11 remaining before halftime when freshman Justin Leddy (Manasquan, N.J.) scored the first of his two goals in the contest, sending RWU into the break ahead 13-1. Sophomore Drew Smith (Blue Point, N.Y.) and junior Logan Roebuck (Montgomery, N.Y.) finished the Hawks’ scoring in the third and fourth quarter, respectively, before Donnelly tallied the game’s final goal with 2:19 remaining.



Nichols freshman goalkeeper Scott Gray (Annapolis, Md.) recorded 26 saves in the game, while allowing 16 goals in 60 minutes. Three goalkeepers spent time between the pipes for RWU: Tyler Roebuck (Montgomery, N.Y.), Matt Levy (St. Louis, Mo.) and Tom Hardon (Devon, Pa.). The trio combined for nine saves overall.



With the win RWU improves to 10-4 overall and 6-2 in the conference. Nichols falls to 4-9 and 1-7. RWU finishes the regular season hosting Gordon Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Nichols also competes Saturday, hosting the University of New England at 11 a.m.
