The Game Story:
BRISTOL, R.I.- The men’s lacrosse team dominated The Commonwealth Coast Conference Quarterfinal Tuesday, defeating the visiting Leopards of Wentworth Institute of Technology, 17-4. The win propels the Hawks into the TCCC Semifinals Thursday, when they’ll meet top-seeded Endicott College.

RWU’s defense and senior goalkeeper Bobby Hensley (Simsbury, Conn.) held Wentworth scoreless throughout the first half, while the team’s offense, registered 11 goals by halftime.

RWU junior Dave Hurley (Hanover, Mass.) led the Hawks offense with seven points on two goals and five assists. Junior Sean Benner (Narberth, Pa.) posted a team-high three goals.

At 12:34 in the third quarter, Wentworth freshman Stephen Biszko (Tiverton, R.I.) stopped the Hawks’ scoring streak, scoring with an assist from junior Cory Benulis (Victor, N.Y.). Benulis notched his second point just 49 seconds later, bringing the score to 11-2.

The team’s traded the next four goals before RWU scored the final four goals of the game.

RWU finished with 45 shots on goal, while Wentworth totaled 25. Leopards senior goalkeeper Nick Murphy (Cohasset, Mass.) recorded 14 saves in the loss.

Wentworth finishes the season 7-8 overall, while RWU improves to 9-7.
