| The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's lacrosse team improved to
2-0 on the young season with a 13-2 victory over Western New England
College (WNEC) in a game played in Orlando, Fla. The Red Hawks, who are
ranked 16th in the nation in the latest USILA/STX Coaches Poll, held a 5-0
halftime lead before breaking out with eight goals in the second half.
Junior Lucas Ruglis, who had two goals and three assists for five points, led RPI offensively. Freshman Adam LoGiudice added three goals, junior Andrew Teichman scored twice with one assist, sophomore Ryan Frisch had a goal and two assists and Nick Culotti, also a sophomore, chipped in with two goals. Tom Haff, Sean Creeley and Jeff Hobbs all had one goal for RPI. In goal, senior Matthew Moog stopped 12 of the 14 shots he faced in 52:36 before giving way to Joe Garvey, who finished with two saves. For WNEC (1-1), junior Marco LeGette and senior Randy Milou had goals and Pat Dabrowski, a senior, made 15 saves. Rensselaer returns to action on Thursday when they will face Nazareth, the seventh-ranked team in Division III, at 4pm in Orlando. The Golden Bears will play Gordon College on Thursday. |
