The Game Story:
The Seahawks of Salve Regina University received three goals from freshman attackman Chris Walker (Marshfield, Mass.) and two scoring strikes each from sophomore attackman Brendan Rooney (West Newton, Mass.) and sophomore attackman Evan Gates (Ridge, NJ) en route to a 9-4 non-conference victory over the Vikings in the season-opener for both teams this afternoon at Alumni Field in Salem.

SSC (0-1) received goals from junior middie Mark Duran (Lynn, Mass.), senior middie Scott Aronian (Chelmsford, Mass.), sophomore attackman Jon Falls (Seekonk, Mass.) and senior middie Nate Snow (Salem, Mass.).

The Seahawks (1-0), who collected 28 shots, also received goals from freshman attackman Brendan Carroll (Garden City, NY) and sophomore middie Michael Augustus (Bristol, RI). The Seahawks jumped out to a 6-2 halftime lead prior to the Vikings cutting the lead to 6-4 in the third period on goals by Falls and Snow. The visitors put the game away by tallying the final three goals.

Viking sophomore goaltender Brendan Gill (Chelmsford, Mass.) finished with 19 saves while senior Brian Walker stopped 22 shots for the Seahawks.

SSC's next game will be Wednesday, March 11 when the Vikings play Mitchell College in a non-conference contest at 4:00 pm at Alumni Field.
