|SALISBURY, Md. * The top-ranked Salisbury University Sea Gulls|
breezed through another Capital Athletic Conference men's lacrosse game
on Friday afternoon with a 24-2 win over Catholic University before 225
brave fans who sat through freezing temperatures and strong winds.
Junior attackman Matt Hickman continues to show he can finish when
given the opportunity around the crease. Hickman scored a game-high five
goals and tacked on one assist. The first string attack line of Greg
Titus (three goals, two assists), Eric Bishop (three goals) and Hickman
combined for 11 goals.
Salisbury (3-0, 2-0 CAC) scored the game's first 14 goals before
Catholic (0-1, 0-1) got on the scoreboard. Cardinal freshman midfielder
Paul Sutton scored an unassisted man-up goal with 3:44 left before the
The Sea Gulls tacked on eight unanswered goals in the third quarter to
increase the lead to 21-1.
Junior Brett Yoder (two goals, one assist) and freshman Brendan Ryan
(two goals) were the other two multi-goal scorers for SU. Sophomore
midfielder Kylor Berkman passed out a team-high four assists.
Salisbury outshot Catholic 66-7, won 23-of-30 faceoffs taken and was
5-for-6 on extra-man opportunities.
Cardinal goalie Greg Kavazanjian made 20 saves in the loss.
Salisbury will return to action on Wednesday, February 28, at home
against Goucher College for a 3:30 p.m. Capital Athletic Conference
