Salisbury vs. Goucher

The Game Story:
Salisbury, Md - Senior Corey O'Neil scored three goals, while senior Andy Arnold and sophomore Dan Boyer added two goals and one assist each as #1 ranked Salisbury downed Goucher 11-5 in the semifinal round of the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament. The Sea Gulls (14-0) will try to claim their 10th straight conference title when they host St. Mary's in Saturday's CAC Championship Game.

After a scoreless first quarter, Salisbury opened a 4-0 lead in the second quarter as O'Neil scored twice and Mike Ricucci and Arnold added single goals. Goucher's Pat Tracy then scored unassisted just three seconds before halftime to cut the deficit to 4-1 at the break.

Back-to-back goals by GC's Brent Shea and Tracy in the opening 1:49 of the third quarter pulled the Gophers to within 4-3 before Salisbury answered with three straight markers. Scott Simmons (1g-4a) and O'Neil scored on extra-man goals and Joe Parker added an unassisted goal in transition as SU's advantage grew to 7-3 with 5:09 remaining in the third quarter.

Goucher (7-8 overall) answered again with goals by Dan Flamholz and James Clement to pull to within 7-5 at the end of the third quarter. Salisbury then sealed the victory with four unanswered goals in the final quarter, including two by Boyer and the second of the game by Arnold.

Salisbury outshot Goucher 54-16, but goalie Reeves Craig helped to keep the Gophers close by registering 22 saves, including 14 in the first half. Salisbury's Dan Korpon finished with five saves.
