The Game Story:
Salisbury, Md - Sophomore midfielders Scott Simmons and Ryan Shiley combined for seven goals to lead Salisbury to its eighth consecutive Capital Athletic Conference title with an 18-7 win over Mary Washington in the championship game at home. Salisbury (11-3 overall) earns the CAC's automatic berth for next month's NCAA Championship Tournament, and will be making its 14th consecutive NCAA appearance. Mary Washington falls to 11-5 overall.

Simmons and Shiley each scored twice in the first quarter as the Sea Gulls built a 7-1 lead. A 5-1 second quarter run, including Simmons' third of the half, pushed the margin to 12-2 at halftime.

Shiley opened the second half scoring with his third of the day 1:18 into the third quarter. Sophomore Andy Arnold's second of the game at 8:49 of the quarter gave the Sea Gulls their largest lead at 14-2. The Eagles scored three of the final four goals of the quarter to make it 15-5 after three periods.

Salisbury outscored MWC 3-2 in the final period, including Simmons' fourth of the game. Senior Joe Boulier tallied both Mary Washington markers and finished with three goals to lead the Eagles.

Arnold, Steve Brianas and Chris Lauer each finished with two goals apiece for Salisbury.

Salisbury finished with a 55-18 advantage in shots, 70-39 edge in groundballs, and controlled 24 of 28 face offs. Individually, sophomore Andy Murray won 20 of 23 face off attempts for the Sea Gulls.

Salisbury closes its regular season with two non-conference games prior to the start of the NCAA Tournament. The Sea Gulls host Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday, April 27, and Washington (Md) on May 4.
