| Salisbury, Md - Fourteen different players scored goals for Salisbury as the
Sea Gulls rolled to a 26-1 victory over Mary Washington in the CAC Championship
Game. Salisbury (14-1) secured its ninth straight conference title and earns
the CAC's automatic bid for next month's NCAA Championship Tournament. Mary
Washington concludes its season with a 10-6 record.
Sophomore Chris Phillips and junior Cory O'Neil finished with three goals each to lead Salisbury. Eight other Sea Gulls finished with two goals each, including senior Josh Bergey (2g-3a), junior Andy Murray (2g-2a) and sophomore Justin Smith (2g-2a). The Sea Gulls led 4-0 after one quarter, 12-0 at halftime and 20-0 after three quarters. The lead grew to 24-0 before freshman Greg Rose tallied MWC's lone marker with 2:47 remaining in the game. Three SU goalies combined for nine saves. Salisbury outshot MWC 54-21, including 35-5 during the second and third quarters. The #2 ranked Sea Gulls close the regular season at #5 Washington College on Saturday (1:30 pm). |
