The Game Story:
Salisbury, Md - Senior attackman Josh Bergey finished with seven goals and three assists to lead #4 Salisbury to a 15-11 win over #12 Ohio Wesleyan in a non-conference game at home Sunday. Salisbury (3-0) built an 11-4 halftime lead, then withstood a second half OWU rally to hand the Bishops (1-1) their first loss of the year.

Salisbury jumped to a 6-2 first quarter lead as sophomore Chris Phillips scored twice and Bergey scored once and added three assists. Bergey scored three times in the second quarter as the Sea Gulls built their largest advantage at seven goals.

Ohio Wesleyan rebounded by scoring the first four goals of the third quarter, including two by senior Andy Rowe and the third of the day by Frank Bedford to pull to within 11-8 at the 3:59 mark of the period. Bergey then added his fifth of the game and OWU's John Schlegel tallied his second of the quarter to close the period with Salisbury ahead 12-9.

Bergey's sixth goal and Ryan Rohde's second goal pushed Salisbury's margin back to five at 14-9 with 8:37 remaining. Back-to-back markers by Jared Law and Schlegel pulled to Bishops back to within three with 7:18 remaining. Ohio Wesleyan managed just three more shots however, and Bergey capped the scoring with his seventh goal at 2:17 to account for the final margin.

Salisbury finished with a 40-27 advantage in total shots. OWU's Paul McCommons finished with 15 saves, while SU's Dan Korpon recorded seven stops.
