The Game Story:
Salisbury, Md - Senior attackman Andy Arnold tallied five goals and two assists and senior midfielder Andy Murray added three goals and one assist to lead defending national champion and number-one ranked Salisbury to a 20-3 non-conference win over Virginia Wesleyan in the season opener for both teams.

Goals by Arnold, Justin Smith and Dan Boyer helped the Sea Gulls to a 3-0 lead after one quarter. SU pushed its advantage to 6-0 early in the second before Virginia Wesleyan's Ryan Bush scored shorthanded to end the run. Murray and Arnold each tallied their second of the game over the next three minutes to increase the Salisbury lead to 8-1 with 7:59 remaining before halftime.

Salisbury scored the first seven goals of the second half to increase its margin to 17-2 midway through the fourth quarter. The Sea Gulls outshot the Marlins 60-18 in the game and controlled 22 of 27 face-offs, including 13 of 14 attempts by Murray.

Smith finished with two goals and two assists for Salisbury, while senior Joe Tamberrino had two goals and one assist. Boyer and Mike Hurley finished with two goals apiece. Bush tallied two of VWC's three goals, both in the second quarter.

Salisbury goalies Dan Korpon (4 saves) and Chris Swierczek (3) combined for seven saves. VWC's Dustin Betthauser recorded 14 saves in three quarters of action, while Tyler Sothoron made three saves in the fourth quarter.
