April 15, 2006
The Game Story:
11 different players scored a goal for the Sea Gulls as Division III juggernaut, Salisbury University, broke off its 63rd consecutive win, a 20-6 victory, at McDaniel College’s expense.

Ryan Rhode scored five goals for the Gulls, while Dan Boyer tallied a hat trick. Mike Hurley, Kylor Berkman, and Eric Bishop each netted a pair for the hosts. Matt Buschman (Baltimore, MD / Calvert Hall) and Jared Nutter (Moorestown, NJ / Moorestown) each netted a pair for McDaniel.

Salisbury dominated all aspects of the game. The Gulls out-shot McDaniel 48-17 and scooped 49 loose balls compared to the Terror’s 19. Salisbury also won 26 of the game’s 30 faceoffs. McDaniel was just one-for-five on the extra-man.

Sea Gulls’ keeper, Max Zarchin, needed only five saves for the win. He allowed five of McDaniel’s six goals. Riley Clark and Nick Fiorentino worked the final eight minutes splitting them evenly. Fiorentino allowed the sixth McDaniel goal. Neither relief keeper was credited with a save.

At the busy end of the field, Ben Yingling (Westminster, MD / Loyola) turned away seven of the 23 shots blasted at him over the games first three quarters. Kenny McHugh (Westminster, MD / Calvert Hall) made four saves and allowed as many goals in working the fourth quarter.

McDaniel falls to 4-6 on the year with the loss. Salisbury improved to 14-0 with the win. The Terror returns to action in Centennial Conference play at Gettysburg on Wednesday.
