|SCRANTON, Pa.—The University of Scranton fell to 0-3 on the season with a 15-6 loss to Elmira College in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at Fitzpatrick Field.|
Senior attacker Jeremy Hobbs inflicted a majority of the damage on the Royals by scoring a game-high five goals and assisting on another and Tyler Schremp added three goals and two assists as the Soaring Eagles improved to 1-1. Freshman attacker Kevin Joyce (Floral Park, N.Y./Chaminade) led Scranton with two goals and senior midfielder Jonathan Sutter (Media, Pa./Penncrest), sophomore attacker Sean O’Connor (Media, Pa./Penncrest)and sophomore midfielder Dan Stallone (S. Plainfield, N.J./St. Joseph Metuchen) had a goal and an assist apiece.
Hobbs scored four of his five goals in the second period as the Soaring Eagles broke away from a 4-2 first period lead to take a comfortable 11-3 lead by intermission. Elmira, which won 21 of 24 face-offs and held a 47-19 advantage in shots, also received two goals apiece from Adam Williamson, Keith Holmes and Ashton McLean. Senior goalie Thomas Kenyon (Chittenango, N.Y./Chittenango) made a game and season-high 20 saves for the Royals, while Elmira’s Kevin Welinsky had 12.
Scranton will take on the Pioneers of Widener University next Saturday, March 19, in its 2005 Middle Atlantic Conference opener in Chester, Pennsylvania, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
