| SCRANTON, Pa.—Despite a game-high four-goal effort by senior attacker Kyle Eaton (Old Bridge, N.J./Milford Academy-Conn.), The University of Scranton dropped a 17-10 decision to seventh-ranked Ithaca College in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at Fitzpatrick Field.
The Royals, now 0-1, cut a 7-4 halftime deficit to 7-6 on goals by Eaton and junior midfielder Rob Loderstedt (Mendham, N.J./Mendham) early in the third period, before the Bombers responded with five goals to take a 12-7 lead entering the final period of play. Brett Huckle (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca) led Ithaca, now 1-0, with three goals and as assist and Jeff Slack (Massena, N.Y./Bridgton), Brian Weil (Amherst, N.Y./Amherst), Dennis Juleff (Australia, N.Y./Albany Creek), Nick Mayer (Old Field, N.Y./Ward Melville) and Scott Guerra (Liverpool, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) added two apiece. After a 2-2 tie in the first period, the Bombers scored four consecutive goals to take a lead it never relinquished. Tim Miller (Glen Cove, N.Y./Chaminade), Todd Cuccia (Larchmont, N.Y./Iona Prep), Joseph Stofega (Chatham, N.J./Chatham), Jeffrey Lange (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) and Matt Cesare (Branchburg, N.J./Immaculata) added a goal apiece for Scranton.
