SCRANTON, Pa.—The University of Scranton was held scoreless for three periods en route to dropping a 10-1 decision to Oneonta State University in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at Fitzpatrick Field.
Trailing 2-0, the Royals cut the lead to one, 2-1, on a goal by junior attacker Rob Loderstedt(Mendham, N.J./Mendham)—his second of the season—off an assist by senior attacker Kyle Eaton (Old Bridge, N.J./Milford Academy-Conn.) with 1:42 remaining in the first period. The Red Dragons completely took over the game from that point on, scoring another goal in the first period and four more in the second to take a 7-1 lead at halftime. The loss drops the Royals to 0-2 on the season.
Oneonta State, which improved to 1-2 on the year, was led by junior attacker Dave Coughlin (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) with three goals and an assist and junior midfielder James Battaglia (Saratoga, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) had two goals. Junior goalkeeper Mike Louer (Islip, N.Y./Islip) made 14 saves for the Red Dragons before leaving the game with over nine minutes left in the fourth period due to an injury.
