Scranton vs. Moravian

The Game Story:
The University of Scranton men’s lacrosse team jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first quarter and defeated visiting Moravian , 11-4, in Landmark Conference action.

The Royals’ Nick Youngstrom scored four of his match high five goals in the first quarter including a man-up goal just 27 seconds into the match as Scranton led 5-0 after 15 minutes of action. Both teams scored twice in the second quarter to give the Royals a 7-2 lead, and both squads tallied a goal in the third quarter as Scranton led 8-3 after 45 minutes of action. The Royals finished the match with a 52-29 advantage in shots, a 50-39 edge in ground balls and won 14 of 19 face-offs.

Sophomore attack David Bennett led the Greyhounds with two goals while sophomore attack Christopher Mohapp added a goal and an assist. Senior attack Jason Tosches had a goal for Moravian while sophomore midfielder Robert Devine had an assist.

Sophomore defender Michael Santos and freshman defender Merrick Smith each had a team high five ground balls for Moravian while senior defender Steven Carroll had a team high five caused turnovers. Freshman defender Kevin Jordan had four ground balls and four caused turnovers for the Greyhounds. Senior goalie Benjamin Larson made 19 saves to go with three ground balls for Moravian.

Youngstrom led all scorers with five points while Kyle Frank and Robby Napp each had a goal and an assist for Scranton. Christian Dugan, Mike Rufo, Patrick Cefalu and Thomas Alati each found the back of the net for the Royals while Brett Greer contributed three assists. Keenan Dowd and Colin McPoyle also had assists for Scranton.

Chris Sullivan led the Royals with five ground balls and three caused turnovers while Owen Eastwood also caused three turnovers. Scranton goalie Jeremy Dowiak posted ten saves and three ground balls in the match.
