| NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- Freshman Mike Distler scored three goals and Joe Mauri slammed home a Steve Selsor pass for his second goal 19 seconds into overtime, as Haverford rallied for a non-conference win Saturday. Matt Thorne-Fitzgerald (goal) redirected Sebastian Mankowski's 14th faceoff win in 19 tries downfield at the start of the extra period to set up Mauri's game-winner. Dean Granoff (assist), Ben Reed (assist) and Patrick Barry added one goal apiece and Max Tcheyan (three) and Distler provided assists for the Fords (2-1). Skidmore (0-1), which rebounded from a 5-3 halftime deficit to lead, 8-6, early in the fourth quarter, was led by Tom Spinella's three goals. Goalkeepers K.C. Peterson of Haverford and James deGorter, Jr., of Skidmore each made eight saves in the game, played at New Canaan High School, the scholastic alma mater of Haverford head coach Mike Murphy. |
