The Game Story:
Saratoga Springs, N.Y.~WLiberty League Player of the Year Tom
Spinella scored three goals and James deGorter had a season-high 21 saves to
lead the Skidmore College men~Rs lacrosse team to a 9-4 win over St.
Lawrence University in the Liberty League semifinals. The Thoroughbreds
will host Rensselaer in the Liberty League championship game on Sunday at 2
p.m.
After spotting the Saints a 2-0 lead, Spinella got Skidmore~Rs
offense going with a goal at 9:46 of the second to make it 2-1. It was the
first of nine straight Thoroughbred goals. Spinella tied it with 4:52 to
play in the second and Jamie Hutson put Skidmore on top for good with 3:43
to play in the second.
Skidmore~Rs defense held the Saints off the board until Pete Glass
scored a pair of goals in the game~Rs final minutes.
The Thoroughbreds are ranked second nationally in scoring defense,
while deGorter is ranked first with a 5.57 goals against average.
Justin Demuth had 14 saves for St. Lawrence (9-6).
Skidmore (12-2) has won a school-record six straight.
