The Game Story:
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., April 14, 2007 – Springfield College sophomore attack Jake Beebe (Sudbury, Mass.) led all players with eight points of offense on three goals and five assists as the Pride powered past Babson College on Saturday afternoon, 19-9, in Pilgrim Lacrosse League action at Benedum Field.

SC remains perfect in the Pilgrim League with today’s victory, improving to 5-0 on the season and 5-7 overall. The Beavers of Babson College fall to 5-5 overall on the year and 3-2 in league play. SC has three more Pilgrim League contests left to close out the regular-season; at WNEC on Wednesday (Apr. 18); at Wheaton College on Saturday (Apr. 21); and home against Clark University on Wednesday, April 25th.

Pride freshman attack Joe Heney (Plainview, N.Y.) added three goals and three assists for six total points of offense in this afternoon’s win. Junior midfielders Greg Welch (Peabody, Mass.) and Tyler Montgomery (Brunswick, Me.), and freshman attack Kyle Gable (Somers, Conn.) each chipped in with two goals. In recording his fourth victory of the season, senior goalkeeper Kyle Cloutier (South Hadley, Mass.) made an impressive 17 saves in 48 minutes (47:09) of action.

Babson College was paced by sophomore attack R.J. Moulton with three goals. Freshman attack Luke Biggins added two goals and a team-high three assists, and sophomore midfielder Bryan Wilbur chipped in with one goal and two assists. Despite the loss, sophomore Max Owen made 12 saves in net during 45 minutes of play.

After SC led 3-1 at the end of the first quarter, the Beavers opened the second quarter with two consecutive goals in under two minutes to tie the contest at three-all. From that point on, however, the Pride dominated. SC scored the game’s next seven goals to take a commanding 10-3 advantage. The Pride continued to pour it on, scoring three of the next four goals to take a 13-4 lead. SC looks to remain perfect in the Pilgrim League when it next travels to WNEC for a crucial conference match-up on Wednesday afternoon, April 18th, beginning at 4:00 p.m.
