| SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Bowdoin College men's lacrosse team fell at Springfield on Saturday, 10-6. The 16th-ranked Polar Bears (3-2) will host Endicott Monday in their home opener. Springfield picks up their first win of the season and moves to 1-4 on the year. Two straight goals by junior attackman Connor Fitzgerald gave Bowdoin a 2-0 lead with 11:56 to play in the first quarter. Springfield would recover, answering with a 4-1 run capped by a goal by senior midfielder Adam Cost at 1:39 that put the Pride up, 4-3, after the first quarter. The Polar Bears (3-2) outscored Springfield, 2-1, in the second quarter as the two teams were tied, 5-5 after the first half. Springfield would outscore Bowdoin, 5-1 in the second half, including a pair of goals by senior midfielder Derek Pedrick as SC earned its first win of the 2005 season after four-straight losses by two goals or less. Springfield goalkeeper Kyle Cloutier made eight stops for the Pride, while Bowdoin sophomore goalie Charles Legg was credited with 11 saves for the Polar Bears. |
