Springfield vs. Hartwick
March 15, 2003
The Game Story:
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., March 15, 2003-Springfield College freshman attack Taylor Brown (Portsmouth, R.I.) had three goals, all in the first quarter, and two assists in his collegiate debut as the Pride defeated Hartwick, 15-14, this afternoon in its season opener at Benedum Field.

With the victory, SC head coach Keith Bugbee becomes just the fourth active Division III coach to win 200 games. Bugbee, who is in his 20th season at SC, now has a 200-91 record.

"This is one of the best wins since I've been coaching here, and its not just because it is my 200th," Bugbee said. "We were facing an excellent team that beat us 25-11 last season. To respond the way we did this afternoon says a lot about our guys."

SC sophomore Jason Beal (Homer, N.Y.) scored the game-winner with 6:51 to play off a pass from junior Paul Purdy (Brewster, N.Y.). Sophomore Shawn Cofrin (Londonderry, N.H.) added two third-quarter goals and an assist for the Pride (1-0), and sophomore Adam Cost (Lake Katrine, N.Y.) chipped in with a pair of goals.

Hartwick freshman attack Mike Debrossy (Westfield, N.J.) had for goals and two assists for the Hawks (1-1). Junior attack Kevin Geraghty (Massapequa, N.Y.) added two goals and four assists.
