Springfield vs. Nazareth

The Game Story:
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (Mar. 4, 2007) -- Freshman attackman Erinn O'Hara (Camillus, NY) scored three goals while senior Jordan Hirsch (pictured, Montrose, NY) recorded two goals and two assists to help 12th-ranked Nazareth to a 10-9 non-conference victory against host Springfield. With the victory, Nazareth improves to 2-0 while 17th-ranked Springfield falls to 0-2 with the loss.

The Golden Flyers seemed to have the game in control when they took a 9-1 lead into the fourth quater, but Springfield came storming back to threaten Nazareth's lead. Jake Beebe scored twice in the first three minutes for Springfield before senior Kevin Kimball (Framingham, MA), who scored two goals and added an assist, answered for Nazareth with the eventual game-winning goal with 11:12 to play.

The Pride would score four goals, three by Tyler Montgomery, in under six minutes to cut the Golden Flyers' lead to 10-9 with 2:02 to play. However, the Golden Flyers defense held strong in the final two minutes by preventing Springfield from getting any good scoring opportunities. Senior Pat Mullin (Irondequoit, NY) played excellent in goal for Nazareth as he stopped 19 shots, 12 of which came in the second half.

In addition to O'Hara, Hirsch, and Kimball, seniors Conor O'Keefe (Setauket, NY) and Chad Amidon (Syracuse, NY) each recorded one goal and one assist for Nazareth. Junior Matt Aloi (Jamesville, NY) added a goal while junior Brian Lissner added an assist.

The Pride held a 48-37 advantage in shots thanks to outshooting the Golden Flyers 18-3 in the fourth quarter. Springfield also had a 25-16 advantage in groundballs and a 13-10 advantage in face-offs.

The Golden Flyers host eighth-ranked Geneseo Saturday at 1 p.m. on the artificial turf field.
